Arifin Shubo, Nusrat Imroz Tisha and Zayed Khan took only ৳1 as remuneration for acting in the film. The production of the film was scheduled to begin on March 18, 2020, the day after Bangabandhu's birth anniversary. But due to the covid-19 pandemic, the work of the film got delayed.

Shyam Benegal made sure that most of the actors in the film were from Bangladesh. Auditions were held from January to February 2020 in Bangladesh and India to select the characters.
